The Arcano Mountains stretch up the west side of the map, and get steeper, colder, and taller in the north. The north part of the Arcano Mountain Range lies directly west of the Anova Forest. The pine forest becomes more sparse as the mountains begin to grow, and the terrain becomes steep and rocky. The sub-alpine zone, which most of the territory is in, has more grass than trees. The vegetation is short due to the rather harsh and cold conditions, and the pine trees are short and scraggy. Valleys with thick pine forests are separated by taller mountains, with the sub-alpine terrain in the area where the low forests meet the higher peaks. These rough, rocky peaks are unsuitable for horses, as they have very little vegetation, and the snowbanks and rocky terrain are difficult for equines to navigate. Bighorn sheep roam the peaks, while whitetail deer, elk and rabbits live in the lower valleys and the sub-alpine zone. Predators include cougars and brown bears. The territory here is harsh, cold, and rather dangerous.

Lone Spirits are welcome to wander here, as the land has not been claimed by a herd.
*Dangers: Cougars, Brown Bears, Hypothermia *
When it comes to meeting a predator, the player can chose the outcome. Please keep in mind that lone horses will be vulnerable to predators, while groups will have a better chance of escaping unharmed. When a predator targets a harem of horses, they will seek to separate the weak and young. If your horse is young, old, or injured, be aware they will be likely to be targeted unless defended. Please keep all interactions with predators realistic. No horse can escape every encounter unharmed.
